Who We Are

Law Offices of Christopher R. Smitherman, LLC is a solo practitioner firm located in a suburb of Birmingham.
The Law Offices of Christopher R. Smitherman is located in downtown historic Montevallo, Alabama. The office practices in multiple areas of law, with a primary focus in criminal defense work.  Christopher  R.  Smitherman, hereinafter referred to as "Chris", is its founding member  and is licensed to handle legal matters in both Alabama and Mississippi state courts.  

As a general practitioner for more than 20 years, Chris has and will continue to travel to any state court house regardless the distance.   Chris has extensive experience serving the fine people of Shelby, Chilton,  Bibb, and Jefferson Counties over the last two (2) decades.  

During his time as a criminal defense lawyer, Chris has successfully represented many defendants.  Despite these efforts, Chris has had to explain that even though the case was resolved in favor of the defendant, the arrest itself is something that was separate and would remain.
Relief finally came in 2014, when the Alabama State Legislature enacted the new Expungement Law.  Recognizing the need to assist many deserving offenders, Chris has now enlarged his practice and Expungements R' Us of Alabama to help former defendants re-start their adult life with a clean slate.
